Saving food and preventing food waste
Coolinarik.ch is committed to promoting an appreciation of food and brings people together through joint projects focusing on nutrition and sustainability.
With the support of EGK, Coolinarik organised a Food Save Market in Murten on 12 September 2026 and a nature conservation dinner on 13 September. Organic and conventional food was salvaged and distributed on a donation basis. At the dinner, these were used – supplemented with ingredients from the forest and the countryside – to create a five-course flexitarian meal.
What was on offer?
At the Food Save Market, visitors were able to take home rescued organic and conventional food in exchange for a voluntary donation. At the same time, Coolinarik provided information about food waste and the mindful use of food. At the Nature Conservation Dinner on 13 September, a creative flexitarian five-course menu was created using rescued food and ingredients sourced from the forest and the natural world. This demonstrated how fine dining can be created from food that would otherwise have ended up as waste.
Three initiatives took centre stage
- Distribution of rescued organic and conventional food on a donation basis
- Raising awareness of food waste and the value of food
- A flexitarian five-course menu made from salvaged food and ingredients sourced from the forest and nature
This gave valuable food a second chance – both at the market and on the plate at the nature conservation dinner.
