Policy: Your personal insurance certificate

 

The policy is the basis of your health insurance. It specifies which benefits have been agreed, for which persons and under what conditions. You will receive the policy when you take out the insurance and whenever you make changes to the contract.

Policy structure

    Contact details such as reference, telephone number and email address

    Your personal details and the insured persons

    Insured person's details Date of birth, insurance number, validity and reason for issue

    An overview of your chosen basic insurance, model and any supplementary insurance policies as well as your choice of deductible and the current monthly premiums 

 

Benefit statement: Statement of remunerated healthcare services

 

After you have used medical services, you will receive a benefit statement. It shows which costs have been submitted, what EGK covers and what you may have to pay from your own pocket, for example in the form of a deductible or excess.

Structure of the benefit statement

Premium statement: Overview of your insurance premiums

 

The premium statement lists the insurance premiums due for a specific period. It shows the composition of your premium, which discounts were credited and by when the amount has to be paid.

Structure of the premium statement

    Period for which the premium is invoiced

  2. Premium components 
    Breakdown by basic insurance and supplementary insurance

  3. Amount to be paid and payment details 
    The amount to be paid and the due date including IBAN, reference number and QR payment slip.

Submit supporting documents from 2026

You can send in your bills, refund vouchers and receipts via the app, customer portal or by post. 

Please submit your Tardoc reimbursement receipts along with the attached sheet containing the QR code. 

  • You can submit your receipts using the myEGK app (Scan function). The app is available free of charge in the App Store and Google Play Store.

  • You can also upload your receipts via the myEGK.ch customer portal. To do this, click on the "Submit documents" function and upload the desired files.

  • There are two types of payment under the Swiss health insurance system: "tiers garant " and "tiers payant"
     

    • Tiers garant: You receive the invoice directly from the service provider.Please submit the refund receipts to us and pay the bill to the service provider. You will receive a benefits statement showing the amount you get from us after deduction of the deductible and franchise.
    • Tiers payant: Service providers bill the health insurance funds directly.We pay the bill directly to the service provider. You will receive a statement of benefits from us with your cost sharing (deductible and franchise).
  • You will receive a copy of the invoice from your doctor. This serves as your information.
     

    • The service providers are obliged to send a copy of the invoices to the patients for control purposes. Please do not submit these.

    Where can I find my policy, premium statement or benefit statement?

    You can find your documents at any time in the myEGK or receive them by post. You can access your current documents in the portal at any time.

    Why am I receiving different documents (policy, premium statement, benefit statement)?

    Each document performs a different function: 

    The policy shows your insurance, the premium statement lists your costs and the benefit statement shows the settled benefits.

    When will I receive a new policy?

    As a rule, you will receive a new policy when there are changes to your insurance, such as a change of product or at the beginning of a new insurance year.

    Why is my premium changing?

    Your premium may change, for example due to statutory changes, a change of product or changes to your personal situation (e.g. age or place of residence).

    What exactly does the benefit statement show me?

    The benefit statement shows which treatments were invoiced, which costs were covered and how much you have to pay yourself.

    Why do I have to pay part of the costs myself?

    Depending on your deductible and excess, you have to pay part of the costs from your own pocket. This co-payment is regulated by law.
