This Privacy Policy uses gender-neutral language as far as possible.

EGK attaches great importance to the protection of your privacy when processing your personal data and complies with the applicable data protection regulations.

It is essentially possible to use the EGK online services without disclosing any personal data. However, should you wish to use certain online services (including but not limited to the insured client platform, the newsletter, course booking and product orders, etc.), you may be required to register and to enter personal information in connection with that registration. As this data refers to a specific individual, it may allow them to be identified. By voluntarily disclosing your data when you register, you consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

In analog contact with EGK (e.g. at events, via the competition form), you as an interested party consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy by voluntarily disclosing your data.

We process the data entered by you on our online services in order to continue improving the advice we provide, for market research and advertising purposes, to provide our products and services, to hold courses and training, and to serve you as part of our membership programmes and look after the health data that you provide us with as part of these programmes.

‘Processing’ refers to any operation, whether supported by an automatic procedure or not, or any series of such operations which is connected with personal data. Examples include data collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, amendment or modification, retrieval, querying, usage, disclosure by means of transmission, dissemination or any other form of provision, reconciliation or linking, reduction, deletion or destruction.

In collecting and processing personal data, EGK is justified by your consent, contractual fulfilment, and its legitimate interests. Where the law requires additional consent, this is obtained from the data subject.

You have the right at any time to request written information about the personal data stored about you or to demand that it be corrected or, if necessary, deleted. Such requests should be sent to the EGK Data Protection Officer (address given below) by regular post, accompanied by a verified copy of an official identification document. Post offices or local government offices will produce verified copies of official identification documents against presentation of the original. Should you believe that your data is being processed in a way which violates data protection law, you can also report this to our Data Protection Officer.

You also have the right at any time to revoke your consent to your data being processed. This notice must be given in writing.

In the absence of statutory obligations or official instructions to the contrary, your personal data will be stored for as long as is necessary to provide the service which is the underlying reason for processing that data.

EGK has instituted a large number of technical and organisational measures to ensure the greatest possible protection of the data that has been recorded. Notwithstanding this, the transmission of data via the internet can fundamentally entail security vulnerabilities so absolute protection cannot be guaranteed. For this reason, EGK accepts no liability whatsoever for data theft and its resulting unlawful processing. Please update regularly the security settings of the systems you use.

EGK online services use cookies. These are text files which are filed and stored on a computer system via an internet browser. The use of cookies allows us to offer the users of the online services user-friendly services that would not be possible without cookies. However, you can decide in the cookie settings not to allow certain types of cookies. Please note that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of the online services to their full extent.

EGK has integrated a cookieless tracking solution for its online services. The tracking is anonymous and without cookies, so that no reference to specific or identifiable persons can be made.

The purpose of Google Analytics is to analyse the stream of visitors to our online services. Google uses the data and information obtained among other things to evaluate the use of our services. This is done in order to show and compile online reports on activities for us, in order to provide further services related to the use of our online services or to be able to develop them. Google Analytics sets cookies on the information technology system of the data subject. We have activated IP anonymisation on this website. Within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area your IP address will therefore be shortened in advance by Google. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

Google may also transfer this information to third parties in cases where this is required by law or where third parties process this data on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. If you do not consent to the processing of your data by Google in the way and for the purposes set out above, you may change your cookie settings accordingly.

The purpose of Google AdWords is to promote our online services by showing advertisements relevant to the user’s interests on the websites of third-party companies and in the hits generated by the Google search engine. A conversion cookie is installed by Google on your system. By using the online services, you consent to Google processing the data it collects about you in the way and for the purpose described above.

The myEGK app is provided via the above app platforms. A valid account with the respective app platform and appropriate end device are required for installation and full use. For data protection within these stores or in the areas directly associated with them, please refer to their privacy policies:

We use Google Firebase in the myEGK app. Google Firebase is part of the Google Cloud Platform and offers various services for the development, quality control and improvement of apps. With the service of Google Firebase, Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland as processor, we process your data for the purpose of continuously analysing the use of the myEGK app to improve the service stability and usability of the app for our users. With Firebase, information about the use of our application is collected, transmitted to Google and stored in a data centre within the European Union. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that the usage data may be transmitted to Google LLC in the USA or by Google to subcontractors in third countries.

EGK is not able to trace the identity of a specific user. Accordingly, there is no personalisation or linking to your user data. More information on the protection of your data in Firebase and the data processing agreements concluded with Google can be found here: Privacy and Security in Firebase.

We would therefore like to inform you about the Firebase functions that we use in the myEGK app.

Firebase Cloud Messaging

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send you up-to-date information via push notifications. Push notifications are messages that appear on your device without opening the app.

Your device is assigned a pseudonymised reference ID (Firebase Installation ID) during the installation of the app, which serves as a destination for push notifications. When uninstalling the app, this ID is processed for a certain period of time before it is definitively deleted. A new ID will be assigned to your end device when you reinstall it.

You can (de)activate this function at any time in your end device settings. If you deactivate, you will not receive any push notifications.

Data is processed in accordance with the provisions of the FADP. According to the FADP, personal data may only be procured and processed for a specific purpose that is recognisable to the data subject. The purpose of data processing is to be able to send you information about received documents or processed data. For more information on Firebase Cloud Messaging, please refer to the privacy policy of Google Firebase: Data processing information.

Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor and quickly correct errors that occur in our app.

If the app crashes, certain information about the crash such as time of the crash, device type, operating system and other technical data (e.g. Installation UUID and crash tracks) are sent from your mobile device to Crashlytics. These crash reports do not contain IP addresses or personally identifiable information.

The purpose is to continuously improve the app to provide you with an error-free, functional application.

For more information on Firebase Crashlytics, in particular on processing time, please refer to the Google Firebase privacy policy: Data processing information.

Google Analytics for Firebase

myEGK processes anonymised usage data with the help of the Google Analytics service for Firebase. This data is not linked to your account data, which means that we are unable to establish a personal link.

The following usage data is processed to improve and continuously optimise the myEGK app and stored for a period of 14 months:

  • data on frequency of use provides us with information on the general acceptance of the app and whether developments lead to more frequent or longer use.

  • information on session/dwell times helps us to detect errors in usability and optimise content.

  • The buttons we use and the content we see allow us to improve frequently used features and optimise accessibility.

  • screen flows or the processes of using individual screens help us to better understand the use cases and objectives of our users and to speed up frequently used processes in the app.

  • for some analyses, we use demographic characteristics provided by Google to better understand our target group.

This Privacy Policy applies only to EGK online services. It does not apply to applications or content supplied by third parties that can be accessed via our website and for which we accept no liability. The online services contain content from other providers by means of links and tools. This content is provided by other organisations and is entirely beyond the sphere of EGK's influence. It is provided for information purposes only. That it is free of error, accurate, up to date, lawful or complete can be neither invoked nor relied upon. Furthermore, it does not mean that EGK has reviewed the content of these websites, approved it or collaborated with the websites’ operators. This content is the exclusive responsibility of those providing it. Specifically, when using such linked content, the Privacy Policy of the provider concerned applies and not that of EGK.

The personal data gathered in connection with subscription to the newsletter is used exclusively to send out that newsletter and for marketing purposes internally within EGK. In addition, subscribers to the newsletter may be sent notifications by email if this is necessary to provide the newsletter service or for registration in connection with it. No personal data gathered in connection with the newsletter service is passed on to third parties. Newsletter subscribers can cancel their subscriptions at any time by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link. Some of the content in the EGK newsletter contains tracking pixels. These permit a statistical evaluation of the success and effectiveness of online marketing measures. In collecting and processing personal data in connection with the dispatch of the newsletter, EGK is justified by the subscriber's consent.

In certain areas we work together with external service providers. These receive only the data that they need to fulfil their contract with us. They are permitted to process this data in accordance with the statutory or contractual requirements, and only to the same extent as EGK itself would be permitted. In case data needs to be disclosed abroad, the applicable legal provisions will be followed.

If you have any questions about data protection law or any enquiries about the rights to your personal data, the EGK Data Protection Officer will be pleased to assist you.
