An overview of our topics

Using sun cream correctly

Sun protection is often inadequate in summer. This video shows how much sun cream you really need, how well clothing protects against UV radiation, and what you need to do to get through the summer without getting sunburnt.

  • UV radiation is usually at its strongest between 11 am and 3 pm. During this time, staying in the shade is considered an effective basic form of protection. Further measures are shown in the video.

  • Ordinary clothing often does not provide sufficient protection for the skin against the sun. In water in particular, the fabric quickly loses its protective effect. Specially designed UV clothing is an exception: it is manufactured specifically for sun protection and, thanks to its UV impregnation, offers significantly higher protection against harmful UV radiation. Uncovered areas such as the face, ears, neck or the tops of the feet require additional sun cream, as do areas near water, snow or light-coloured sand, where UV radiation is further reflected.

  • The sun protection factor (SPF) indicates how much longer the skin is protected from sunburn compared to when it is unprotected. An SPF of at least 30 is often recommended for everyday use.
