Everything parents should know
We registered our baby with the health insurance before birth. That way, we know that as soon as the baby arrives, it will be perfectly cove
Benefits of prenatal registration
Healthcare insurance is mandatory in Switzerland, including for newborns. With prenatal registration, your child is covered from day one under basic insurance and, if desired, also under EGK-SUN supplementary insurance.
Otherwise, you have three months after the birth to register your child. Basic insurance begins from the date of birth. Supplementary insurance is only possible with a health check and begins on the first day of the month following the date of signature.
You can focus fully on your baby after the birth.
Why is supplementary insurance so important?
Supplementary insurance gives your baby extra cover over and above the basic insurance and offers other benefits such as complementary medicine and later also dental corrections and visual aids.
If you register your baby with EGK before the birth, you will also enjoy the following benefits:
Insurance cover from the very first minute. Omit sentence
Guaranteed admission to EGK-SUN-3 supplementary insurance, general ward throughout Switzerland, without medical examination.
Prenatal registration is possible for all insurance levels:
- General: EGK-SUN-3
- Private: EGK-SUN-1
- Semi-private: EGK-SUN-2
- Flex: EGK-SUN-Flex
Please note: If a birth defect is diagnosed during the first year of life, this is subject to a retroactive reservation from the beginning of the insurance. The benefits relating to this reservation are paid from the EGK-SUN-3 insurance level.
EGK pays the supplementary insurance premium for your baby in the month of birth.
10% family discount on EGK-SUN supplementary insurance policies with a joint premium invoice (only if one parent has also taken out EGK-SUN supplementary insurance)
EGK-SUN
With EGK-SUN supplementary insurance, you have all-in-one insurance – both for outpatient treatment and for hospital stays.
