Complementary medicine at EGK
A holistic approach rather than one focused solely on symptoms: Complementary medicine seeks to address the causes, not just to provide relief. Whether it’s complementary or conventional medicine, we make no distinction. With our supplementary insurance, you have complete freedom of choice.
Complementary medicine takes a holistic view of health. Unlike conventional medicine, which focuses on symptoms, it seeks to identify the root causes in order to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life in the long term.
Complementary medicine can be used alongside conventional medicine or on its own. It is suitable for almost all illnesses, as well as for chronic conditions such as hay fever, rheumatism, headaches, etc. In Switzerland, these services are well established and are provided by qualified doctors, therapists and naturopaths. This gives rise to a modern form of medicine that combines the advantages of both approaches.
Compulsory basic insurance also covers selected complementary medicine treatments, provided they are administered by doctors with the relevant specialist training. However, for comprehensive access to all recognised therapies, the supplementary insurance offered by EGK-Health Insurance provides significantly more options and flexibility.
In the field of holistic medicine, we have been committed to providing complementary medicine services since 1978. In 1991, we became the first Swiss health insurance provider to set up our own therapist registration scheme, which recognises and refers specialists. In this way, we ensure that you can benefit from high-quality Complementary medicine at all times.
SNE Foundation
In 1995, the EGK-Health Insurance Fund established the SNE Foundation for naturopathy and empirical medicine. Since then, the Foundation has been promoting research and training and facilitating innovative projects that strengthen naturopathy and modern empirical medicine.
