With the final of the Swiss Orienteering Grand Slam presented by EGK, the orienteering season came to an end on 13 November 2021. Competition-oriented and atmospheric at the same time: embedded in the event was the traditi-onal Swiss-O-Fest, at which the EGK also celebrated.

The Swiss Orienteering Grand Slam presented by EGK culminated in the "Tour de Grand Slam" on 13 November. Over five stages, the winner of this year's Grand Slam was chosen from the field of nine finalists. Paula Gross (25) and Florian Howald (30) won on the final day in their favour. The first three stages led the participants to the technically interesting forest area Hübeli near Bowil (BE). Afterwards, the running terrain changed to the urban area near Kirchberg BE, where the traditional Swiss-O-Fest took place at the end of the season.

OL Grand Slam as an attractive competition format

Until 2016, Swiss Orienteering carried out the annual ranking of the elite and junior categories as Swiss Orienteering Elite League. After that, the annual ranking was completely relaunched and since then it is called Swiss Orienteering Grand Slam - since this year even as "Swiss Orienteering Grand Slam presented by EGK". The EGK-Gesundheitskasse has been supporting the Swiss orienteering sport for about 6 years. With its holistic understanding of orthodox and natural medicine, it makes sense to support a sport that not only takes place in unspoilt nature, but above all challenges the runners on very different levels - physically, mentally and intellectually.
